July 8, 1938 to March 16, 2023

George “Gib” Ross, age 84, of Carson City, Nevada, died on March 16, 2023, at home, surrounded by family, after a courageous year-long battle with lymphoma.
Gib was born on July 8, 1938, to George (Tex) and Nora Louise (Taylor) Ross in Echo, Utah.
Gib graduated from Union High School in 1956, in Roosevelt, Utah before joining the U.S. Army one year later. He honorably served two years, stationed much of his deployment in South Korea. His love for music never wavered. He had his father ship his guitar to him while in South Korea.
Gib married in 1960 and had six children. He was later divorced. In November of 1982, Gib married Lisa (Handley) Ross. They shared two children and 40 plus memorable years until his passing.
One of Gib’s greatest passions in life was music. He was a talented musician who could commonly be found playing his guitar, and always had a tune in his head. At the age of 16, he semi-professionally began playing music with his father’s band Tex Ross and the Rhythm Wranglers at the “Red Barn” in Roosevelt, Utah. Gib always credited his dad for perfecting his guitar playing skills. Gib played rhythm, bass, and lead guitar. Gib later helped form the band The Country Gentlemen. They played various dance halls almost every weekend. Some of the venues include Bottle Hollow, Buds, Last Chance, Cowboy Corral, Hill Top, Elks Lodge and Kay’s Lounge.
Gib was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carolyn Bailey and LouAnn Allen; brothers, Lucky Ross and Randy Ross; and daughter, Roberta Ann Ross.
Gib is survived by his wife, Lisa Ross; daughters, Jerry (Clark) Slaugh, Tina Hadlock, Ranae Blake, Joy Lynn (Scott) Bouck and Crystal Jones; sons, Geo Ross and Gordon Ross; siblings, Colleen Heatherly, Rhonda (Bob) Soper and Kent (Lori) Ross. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
“You may have left this world but will never leave our hearts.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date TBA in Vernal, Utah.
