June 15, 1957 to February 28, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shanna Rae Chivers. Shanna, known by her friends and family as “Shan”, was born on June 15, 1957, to Giles and Peggy Chivers. Both preceded her in death. She passed on Feb. 28, 2023, due to complications of pneumonia that ultimately led to heart failure. Shan lived her life 100 miles an hour and tried to fit in as many adventures as she could think of. All who knew her well loved her to the very end and will greatly miss her huge heart and occasional goofball personality. She was always there for friends and family when they needed a shoulder to cry on or simply someone to talk to and was always willing to help however she could. Her unconditional love of animals led her to start a successful dog grooming business which was open for 14 years. She loved camping, fishing, barbecuing, gardening and trips to Wendover. Shan always had a garden full of many different types of vegetables and loved to share with anyone who would take them. At the end of the season, she was always canning something delicious, and all her friends and family enjoyed her jams and such. Shan was a huge music fan and would not turn down any opportunity to go to a concert; she would be there with a beer in hand singing along and dancing to every song. She loved long drives up the mountain blasting some rock n’ roll and taking it all in once she got to the top. Shan is survived by her two children, Misty Gonzales and Zach (Sarah) Martinez; her grandson, Jayden, whom she loved to her last breath; her sister, Deborah (Rick) Marshall; Bob Royal who was by her side these last few months; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dearest friend of 40 years, Julie McMickell, was her rock and her shoulder to lean on. Dearest Shan, it’s never “Goodbye” just “See you later.” And as always “Let it go.” We love you forever. Per Shan’s request, she was cremated and there will be no funeral. There will be a celebration of life for her on May 13 in Salt Lake City at her son Zach’s home. If you would like to attend and want details, please email zachadoo88@gmail.com.
