July 30, 1961 to February 27, 2023

William Dean “Bill” Thompson, age 61 of Lapoint, passed on to the next step of life to be welcomed into his loving Savior’s arms on Feb. 27, 2023, in the comfort of his own home due to medical complication.

He was the oldest of four children born to William (Bill ) Hoeft and Joyce Reay Thompson on July 30, 1961. He married Melanie Mulford on Sept. 12, 1986, in the Logan Temple.

Bill worked as an accountant as well as a computer network administrator. Although this was his occupation, he will be remembered for much more, such as being a thoughtful, guiding, loving, wise and humble father, friend, son, faithful husband, brother, grandfather and teacher. He will be enormously and greatly missed by many. Although Bill’s life was only 61 years, he will go on to live through each of his children and loved ones for many years and generations to come. Due to his caring and genuine guidance and loving counsel, this strong, hard-working, compassionate, selfless man has touched more lives than he thought possible. Just by simply being himself and doing what he knew to be right is why he’ll always be loved, remembered, and missed by those who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his mother; and loving wife, Melanie Thompson; their seven children, Alexander (Holly) of Lapoint; Jason (Ashley) of Lapoint; Lyndie of Lapoint; Jennifer of American Fork; Sean (Jordan) of Vernal; Joseph of Lapoint; and Mary Elizabeth of Lapoint; 8 grandchildren; siblings, Micheal (Korin) Thompson of Lehi; and Lisa Thompson.

Bill was preceded in death by his father; brother, Mark Thompson; and grandparents.

Funeral services will be on Monday, Mar. 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Lapoint Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be that morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Burial in the Lapoint Cemetery.
