December 8, 1938 to February 2, 2023

Geraldine (Jerry) Farrar Merkley, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, in Vernal, Utah.
Jerry was on born on Dec. 8, 1938, to Theda Dean and William Edward Farrar in Vernal, Utah. She lived in Layton, Utah, until she met and married her eternal sweetheart, Edward H. Merkley on Mar. 24, 1956, in Vernal, Utah. Jerry was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her children and grandchildren, who loved her in return throughout her long life.
Ed and Jerry operated a successful farm, where they taught their children the rewards of hard work.
Jerry had many talents. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She was a gifted oil painter, a skilled seamstress, an accomplished gardener and an avid collector. Throughout her younger life, she held many positions in her church. She was a primary and Sunday school teacher, scout leader and Relief Society homemaking leader.
Jerry is survived by Edward Merkley, her dear husband of 66 years; her children, Barbara and Merlin Mott; Roger Merkley; John and Melanie Merkley, Steven Merkley and Richard Fry; twenty grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; her siblings, Linda Moore, William Farrar, Jeff Healy and Susan DeMarino.
She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Delbert Healy; baby older brother, Phillip Farrar; parents-in-law, Ward and Reva Merkley; and one great-grandchild.
