Terra Academy’s Assistant Director Kristy Aycock retired with her last day at the school being February 10. Mrs. Aycock started her educational career over 30 years ago as a teacher, mainly teaching 4th grade during that time.

She loved creating her own curriculum while teaching, once that changed, she decided she wanted to try something in education. Once she learned about the opportunity to take part in starting the Charter School from Cassie Hays, Terra Academy’s Founder, she jumped right in becoming the assistant director.

From there the school broke ground in Mrs. Aycock has absolutely loved her lengthy time as an educator.

“Starting the school was a dream I never thought would happen, I just never thought this would be something I could do here,” said Kristy Aycock.

Since opening the school has welcomed thousands of new and returning students. Breaking ground in 2014 and opening in 2015 the school has only grown thanks to the efforts of staff and students alike.

One of her favorite things she did during her career in education was helping students grow and be the best they can be.

“I loved creating curriculum which seemed to help kids grow, I loved the growth with the students I had,” said Kristy Aycock.

After her retirement she plans to move closer to family and enjoy her retirement. Congratulations Mrs. Aycock on your well deserved retirement after an amazing educational career.

You will be missed by students and staff alike and we wish you the best in this next chapter of life.
