Ice Fishing Derby Rescheduled

The second annual Youth Ice Fishing Derby has been rescheduled to February 8. Originally set for January 18 from 9 a.m.-noon. The derby is still going to be held at the same time from 9 a.m. – noon at Steinaker State Park.

Staff will be available to assist with drilling holes in the ice for those who need it.

Participants are to check in the parking lot near the boat ramp at the registration station, registration will start at 7:30 that morning where a map of the lake with tournament rules will be provided.

Fishing will start at 9 a.m. and end at noon, fish must be turned in no later than noon to be processed for tournament results. Youth over the age of 12 are required to have a valid fishing license.

The tournament is divided into three age groups, eight and under, nine to thirteen, and fourteen to seventeen. The fish will be weighed upon turn in, if there happens to be a tie in weight whichever fish was turned in first will be higher in rankings.

All participants including supervising adults need to be registered before competing in the tournament.
