UDOT was busy installing traffic lights at the intersection of S.R. 121 and 300 West last week. As a part of the Statewide Procurement Traffic Signal Installations effort, UDOT has been making improvements to intersections across the state. UDOT plans to have this signal up and running by June 6 if all goes well. Traffic lights are also being installed at the intersection of Hwy 40 and Ioka lane.
According to Mikayla Scoresby, public involvement specialist with Consor, the construction of new traffic signals improves the safety and mobility of intersections by assigning right of way. Each new signal is evaluated for the traffic volume, turning movements, pedestrian use, location variables such as sight distance and crashes before any signal is installed.
