Uintah’s Dausen Gardiner drilled a 3-pointer with a few seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 41-41 against Union in the rivalry boys basketball contest.The Utes outscored the Cougars 7-4 in overtime to claim a thrilling 48-45 victory in front of a packed house in Roosevelt.“We set the play for Dausen to shoot the ball after the screen,” Uintah coach Brandon Johnson said.

Lady Eagles off to fast start

A 6-1 start by the Duchesne High School girls basketball team has been generated from some strong defensive efforts.The Lady Eagles have turned into one of the better teams in 2A with the ability to hold their opponents under 40 points.“We are really excited about how the girls are playing,” Duchesne coach Kyle Grant said.

A fast start lifted the Uintah High School boys basketball team to a 76-59 home victory over Moffat County in Vernal.The victory was the first of the season for the Utes.“We were able to score lots of points in the win and that is what we are going to have to do,” Uintah coach Brandon Johnson said.
