Uintah Basin’s Mark Winterton, Charles Woodhouse and Quin Dickson are three of the elite high school wrestling officials the state has to offer.The trio developed a passion for the sport a long time ago.All of them wanted to keep close to wrestling.That’s why they have dedicated a lot of time to the sport while traveling all over to the state working in different tournaments and duals.

When Hunter knotted the score at 7-7, Uintah softball coach Maddy Keel’s message to the team was not to panic.The Lady Utes responded by coming alive on the offensive end to roll past the Lady Wolverines 19-9 in the season opener in Vernal March 8.The contest was stopped in the sixth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule.“They played amazing,” Keel said.

Mary Harper grew up dancing and participating with the Powerhouse Dance Studio in Vernal.Two years ago, Harper decided to join the Uintah High School cheerleading program to provide a new challenge for herself.It didn’t take Harper long before she became one of the best at pumping up the crowds at different sporting events.“I did dance for the first part of my life and I really loved it,” Harper said.
Uintah’s high energy proved to be the difference in the high school baseball season opener against Carbon.
Vernal scored four unanswered goals in the third period to secure a 6-2 win over Seattle to clinch the United States Premier Hockey League Northwest Division title.The victory capped off a 2-1 playoff series victory against the Totems at the Uintah County Western Park Ice Rink.The teams played a best two out of three series format.It’s the second straight divisional title for the Oilers.“I think that it means a lot to the organization and even more to the town of Vernal,” Vernal coach Ryan Howse said.
Terra Academy knew things wouldn’t be easy during the Utah Sports Schools Association state tournament if they wanted to repeat as champions.
