Uintah went 1-2 against Mountain View to finish the Region 8 baseball schedule.The Utes hosted Union Monday night to complete the regular season.Uintah honored seniors Tyler Ivins, Jaron Colton, Sheason Sheffield, Ryan Mansfield, Dace Pope and Derick Hardy before the doubleheader with the Bruins April 25.Uintah played inspired baseball for all seven innings to earn a 12-4 victory.The Utes reached on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning after Mountain View committed an error and Hardy singled, each scoring one run.The Bruins took the lead 3-2 in the top of the second.Uintah captured the advantage back 5-3 in the bottom of the second when Colton hit a two-run double and Angels Rios singled, scoring one run.Uintah added one run in the third when Ivins singled after a nine-pitch at-bat, making the scoreboard read 6-3.The Utes scored five times in the bottom of the fifth inning on four hits for the win.Pope started on the mound where he pitched five innings, striking out five and walked one.Hardy threw the final two innings of scoreless ball in relief.Uintah registered 14 hits in the game.Colton, Mansfield and Rios each drove in two runs.
Uintah is on track to win a region golf title but the Lady Utes are swinging to continue to improve in the stretch drive of the regular season.Uintah has won all five of the 4A Region 8 tournaments they have competed in.
