UHS Student Council earns national award

The Uintah High School Student Council has been recognized as a 2024 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC).“Receiving a National Gold Council of Excellence Award reflects the amazing dedication of the students and school to make their community a better place,” said Ronn Nozoe, CEO of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, which is the parent organization of the NASC.“Uintah High School has gone above and beyond in elevating student voice to ensure they are establishing a positive climate and culture, as well as fostering academic and social growth for all,” Nozoe said.During the 2023-2024 school year, Uintah High’s student leaders have sponsored a car show as a fundraiser, supported Vernal’s Night to Shine, created and displayed a heart for every UHS student for Valentine’s Day, participated in the Ute Indian Tribe’s Trunk or Treat event, hosted blood drives for the American Red Cross, attended state and national leadership conferences, and planned dances and other events for the student body.
