Steinaker canal trail extension in the works

In a recent council meeting, Keith Despain, city councilman, unveiled an ambitious plan to extend the Steinaker Service Canal Trail, presenting a potential agreement with the Uintah Water Conservancy District to address concerns and move the project forward.The proposed trail expansion aims to connect key areas along Aggie Blvd, stretching from 500 North to Highway 40, with the goal of providing improved pedestrian access to local schools, community centers, and Utah State University; An area that is already functioning as a makeshift trail for the numerous residents who use it for their daily commutes.Despite initial enthusiasm, hurdles emerged, primarily from the canal company expressing apprehensions regarding the project’s impact on their operations and infrastructure.
