Residents of Vernal are being warned about a sophisticated scam involving individuals posing as local law enforcement officers and demanding money for bail.

A Severe windstorm swept through the Uintah Basin on Friday afternoon, causing widespread damage to homes and property along with power outages across the area.According to Uintah County Sheriff Steve Labrum, the storm resulted in approximately 6,000 customers losing power, with at least five utility poles broken by the high winds.“We sustained damage to poles and wires in multiple locations from the wind burst/storm,” said Sheriff Labrum in an initial update.
