This year three tax adjustments were presented to the Duchesne County Commission. First adjustment being a man that called asking why his 2023 taxes were not combined with another parcel.
Both the Ute Tribe and the State are asking for an extension from the EPA wanting the Uintah Basin to go to moderate air quality.
Rangely, CO – Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) has made the difficult decision to cancel its 2025 softball season. This decision was made with the well-being, health, and safety of our student-athletes as the top priority. Dinosaur, Colo. – The National Park Service announces a major road, parking lot, and sidewalk reconstruction project in the Utah portion of Dinosaur National Monument for 2025. To conduct the work safely and efficiently, the Dinosaur Quarry Exhibit Hall will temporarily close to all visitor access from September 8, 2025, through late October 2025.
Uintah Basin Healthcare welcomed their first baby of the year at 7:50 p.m. on January 5, 2025, born to Realeen Thompson and Julius Fitisemanu. This makes their beautiful baby boy the Uintah Basin Healthcare’s New Year’s Baby. Parents of the New Year’s baby received many wonderful items that have been donated by local businesses.
SALT LAKE CITY — 2024 was a banner year for volunteers helping benefit wildlife in Utah, with volunteers in the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Dedicated Hunter Program completing 1,473 projects — more than double the number of projects completed the year before.
On January 3, 2025 at about 12:45 in the afternoon there was an oil tank that caught fire while the tanks were having some maintenance done to them. At some point a fire started and the battery of tanks then became fully engulfed in flames, the oil well site and location were evacuated and state road 87 north of Duchesne was shut down for a short time. The fire was located about three miles north of Duchesne City. No one was injured or hurt during the incident.
