Rhett A. Searle

Rhett A Searle passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2023, at the age of 74 of a sudden heart attack. Rhett was born on June 5, 1948, to Edlean “Birdie” Abegglen and Woody Searle of Vernal.

He was a member of the U.S. Army where he served during the Vietnam War. Rhett and Lola married in July of 2000 and as best friends, enjoyed many years of showing horses and most recently hunting rocks in the hills above their home and the Sands of Wyoming. He owned a successful pawnshop for 20+ years which was the perfect business for him due to his love of B.S.’ing with anyone and everyone.

Rhett was incredibly talented at training horses and dogs and spent the last several years training and selling border collies all over the country. He was always more than willing to help anyone who asked and assisted many kids in rodeo events and showing horses throughout the years.

He loved his kids and grandkids and was so proud of each of them and their accomplishments. He lit up around his grandkids and enjoyed spending time at their various events. He also enjoyed many hours of “higher education” during the winter months with his cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Lola; son, Curry (Larissa) Brown-Searle; daughters, Alana (Chris) Ward and Shalyn Searle; grandchildren, Kayt, Ella, Andon, Chloie and Ryatt; and several loving nieces and nephews.

A joyous reunion was held in heaven where Rhett was greeted by the Lord; many loved ones; daughter, Michelle McNeil; and nephew, Little Woody.

Rhett loved the Lord and took every opportunity to share the Lord’s word. He was able to share the truth of the gift of salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to many along the way.

He was a man of principle and the best friend anyone could ever have and will be missed more than words can ever express. A special thanks to EMS, the Sheriff’s department and the Uintah Basin Emergency team for their efforts and compassion.

In lieu of flowers please spread the Lord’s word and His FREE gift of salvation.

Graveside services for Rhett will be on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Rockpoint Cemetery, 2250 W. 2500 N., with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
